I had changed cases for my Intel NUC for better cooling and needed the antenna in a different location as the new case had much more metal and was shielding the PCB antenna. The wings allowed the antenna to be next to the plastic sides and I get great reception now, which ranges from -33dBm to -27dBm. Before it was struggling to reach three feet to the router.
